A Canton, Georgia, woman faces multiple traffic violation charges after a reckless driving rampage last Friday morning between Jacksonville and Palm Valley. Criminal charges against Andrea Lee Zampatti, 37, could include aggravated assault, aggravated battery, and DUI charges. Sheriff's deputies believe alcohol was a factor in the crashes and are awaiting toxicology reports. Four people, two seriously, were injured during the rampage, in addition to Zampatti.

Sheriff's deputies say that the rampage started when Zampatti was reported by another driver to be driving against traffic. She continued to drive erratically for over an hour and continued to be reported to police by witnesses until the rampage finally ended. Along the way, she mowed down a bicyclist and a motorized scooter, she slammed into a patrol car after she was pulled over for a moment, and she only stopped driving when she finally hit a truck head-on. She still made a run for it after the last crash and was finally tackled.

Zampatti also reportedly tried to run down a Sheriff's deputy who was setting out stop sticks in her path. She only missed him because another deputy on her trail hit her from behind, which caused her to spin and miss him. Witnesses also reported that Zampatti was smiling after she hit the bicyclist.

After being captured, Zampatti was taken to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville for observation and then booked into St. John's County Jail without bond.
