Piedmont lanes are closed because of a water main break that happened early tuesday morning. Once the pipe has been fixed, the road will take about 24 hours to cure. "This main has given us problems before," said Janet Ward, spokeswoman for the water department. She also said traffic on Piedmont Road would be squeezed down to one southbound lane and two northbound lanes between Pharr and East Wesley roads.
"Tell people to avoid the area," Ward said. "It's going to be a mess."
The affected area is about midway between Lindbergh Drive and Peachtree Road.
