A man remains in intensive care at an Atlanta hospital after a recent accident in which he lost control of his car while traveling west on Ga. 347 and hit a cement mixer. His young son died in that crash.
That incident followed another serious accident involving the man, 37-year-old Matthew Boozer of Buford, that occurred in Gwinnett County in May, which resulted in collisions involving multiple cars and injuries sustained by other drivers. Boozer was charged with a number of traffic offenses in that incident, including reckless driving, hit-and-run, failure to maintain his lane, failure to stop at a red light and serious injury by vehicle.
A report filed by the Gwinnett County Police Department states that the motorist swerved across two road lanes and struck another car. In lieu of stopping at that point, he ran a red light and hit another car, causing multiple injuries to its driver. Continuing yet further, he entered another road and collided with a third car, also injuring its driver.
There is no indication that the motorist was driving while intoxicated. His case was not yet settled when he was involved in the more recent fatal accident. Gwinnett County officials state that the man will be brought to court, but that a court date has not yet been set. Regarding the second accident, a State Patrol investigator says that it is uncertain whether charges will be filed against the man.
Obviously, most criminal traffic charges are not as extensive as those chronicled above. Moreover, charges in many cases can be contested on a number of factual and procedural grounds. If you are a Georgia resident seeking legal assistance with a traffic violation charge, or an out-of-state motorist who was charged with an offense while driving in Georgia, contact an experienced attorney for answers and a strong defense.
